Secure real action on climate change

Dutton will take us backwards on climate, but without the Greens, Labor won’t do enough.  We’ll invest in publicly owned renewable energy, minerals and green metals processing, for a livable, sustainable future.

2022 was a breakthrough moment with an unprecedented wave of Greens and Independents elected across the country, including right here in Griffith. Together we sent a clear message to the major parties: the time for climate inaction was over.

Our community deserves a powerful voice in Canberra fighting for you and the future of generations to come. Because Griffith voted Green, in just the the last term of parliament we’ve:

  • Stopped half of new coal and gas projects in the pipeline
  • Won $1.7 billion in funding for households and businesses to transition to clean energy,
  • Dutton-proofed Australia’s climate targets in law
  • Blocked any Future Made in Australia funding going to fossil fuel projects.

But we can’t stop now. Australia is still the second biggest exporter of fossil fuels in the world. In the last 3 years, the Labor government spent a record $25 billion subsidising fossil fuel projects, approved 30 new climate wrecking coal and gas projects, and folded to pressure from the mining industry to dump their own environmental laws. Emissions are higher than they have ever been - and they’re only climbing.

At the same time, we’re seeing more and more natural disasters devastate our community, such as major flooding events and Tropical Cyclone Alfred, fueled by climate change

Only the Greens have a comprehensive plan to secure a safe, sustainable future, including:

  • Stopping all new coal, oil, and gas
  • Expanding publicly-owned renewable energy.
  • Ending the billions in handouts to coal, oil and gas corporations.
  • Ending fossil fuel subsidies for all industries except agriculture.
  • Lowering power bills by transitioning to more reliable clean energy.
  • Subsidising solar & batteries for homes & businesses.
  • Ending native forest logging.
  • Saving koalas and our wildlife from extinction.
  • Creating thousands of jobs during the transition.

Our climate needs more Greens in parliament, not less. In order to keep fighting for strong, decisive climate action, I need your number one vote.
