Win beautiful art and help make history at the same time!
To raise crucial funds for the Greens campaign to win Griffith, we are running an exciting raffle and you can win one of three gorgeous paintings by accomplished Brisbane artist Lyn Graham.
Two paintings are framed watercolours on full sheets of cotton watercolour paper (570 mm x 770 mm), while the third is acrylic on a stretched canvas frame (600 mm x 770 mm). All three are inspired by Queensland’s precious environment. Lyn’s works are much sought after, and these paintings have been valued at over $2000 each. Tickets are $50 each, 3 for $100 or 8 for $200 and are strictly limited, so get in quick!
Lyn is a local artist residing in West End for the last 40 years. She has worked for trade unions and the Human Rights Commission, and for the last 18 years has been involved with Reverse Garbage Queensland. Lyn’s art has raised money for a range of community and environmental organisations, including the Environmental Defenders’ Office and Amy MacMahon’s successful 2020 Greens campaign for South Brisbane.
Win One of Three Beautiful Works
Each ticket gives you the chance to win one of the following amazing prizes:
- 1st Prize: Wetland 1
- 2nd Prize: Eucalyptus Salubris
- 3rd Prize: Paroo River
Wetland 1
Watercolour on cotton watercolour paper, framed in natural pine. Painting dimensions 570 mm x 770 mm.
This beautiful watercolour is part of the Wetland series by Lyn Graham. The series is inspired by the wetland behind the village of Toorbul, about an hour north of Brisbane on the Pumicestone Passage. Lyn has a deep love of the area developed through her family’s connection to Toorbul over more than 60 years. In this time there have been many changes but the natural beauty of the wetlands and the Passage endures.
Lyn collected leaves, seeds and branches from the wetland and foreshore and used these as stamps, and then worked these in with drawing and hand-colouring.
Eucalyptus Salubris
Watercolour on cotton watercolour paper, framed in natural pine. Painting dimensions 570 mm x 770 mmm.
The common name for this eucalypt is Gimlet Gum, so named for its tall, slender trunk and preponderance of vegetation at the top of the tree. These gums are endemic to the great southern woodlands of Western Australia. However, this painting features a tree growing in the Myall Park Botanic Gardens west of the Queensland town of Tara. These heritage-listed gardens were established by local graziers David and Dorothy Gordon in the 1940s.
The artist visited the gardens as part of a painting trip to south west Queensland in 2020.
Paroo River
Acrylic on stretched canvas frame. Painting dimensions 600 mm x 700 mm.
The Paroo River is a series of waterholes that stretch from west of Charleville in Queensland south through south west Queensland into the top north west corner of NSW. In wet weather these form a running stream that eventually flows into the Murray-Darling system. The scene is from just west of the south west Queensland town of Eulo. It is a special place for local people. Trees stand on islands in the river channel that constantly change with each passing flood.
The artist visited the Eulo as part of a painting trip to south west Queensland in 2021.
Help Us Win Griffith
All funds will go towards the Greens campaign to win Griffith. Unlike Labor and the Liberals, the Greens don’t take corporate donations. So we rely on supporters to chip in what they can. We only need a 3.5% swing to win, and we’re already running a giant grassroots campaign – but we need money to ensure we reach everyone before election day.
