Stop the attack on migrants - Forum & free community dinner

Migrant communities in Australia are under attack by the Labor and Liberal parties.

Labor’s proposed anti-refugee bill will endanger the lives of asylum seekers, impose harsh prison terms, and separate families through a Trump-style travel ban here in Australia. If passed, Labor’s plan will mean a mother and her children who fled a country like Iran – and went through an unfair refugee system in Australia – could be ordered to seek a passport from the country they fled or face years in jail.

And meanwhile, with skyrocketing rents and house prices hitting hard, Labor and the Liberals have been quick to blame migrants for problems in housing. By doing so, they’re scapegoating migrants for a housing crisis that’s not their fault - and distracting from the Greens real plans to take on the big banks and property investors driving up rents and house prices for the rest of the country.

In a country like Australia, we should be proud of multicultural and migrant communities, but Labor and the Liberals want to demonise migrants and use them to distract from their own failings. We can’t let them win.

Join us to hear the Greens plans to take them on and how you can help fight back. We'll have plenty of time for Q&A, and we'll also be holding a free community BBQ dinner afterwards with halal, vegan and gluten free options available.
