Stop the Sell-Off of Public Housing

Since 2017, the State Government has privatised over 1000 public homes across Queensland, sometimes evicting public housing tenants and forcing them out of the city. This is a practice that uproots and displaces people from their local communities, and erodes the stability and security that a home brings.

Queensland is in the middle of a housing crisis and selling off public housing in valuable inner-city areas is only going to make the situation worse.

We see this as a critical issue within our community, and one which the government has ignored by prioritising the financial agenda of property developers and investors, rather than the fundamental needs of our community.

We, the citizens of Brisbane, petition the Queensland State Government to stop the sell-off of public housing, by stopping the sale of public homes to the private market.

We call on the Queensland State Government to stop the sell-off of public housing for the good of the 47,000 people on the social housing waitlist.
